    Description

    1965 AMC Rambler Marlin 327 4bbl Auto.
I bought this 65 Marlin in Los Angles in 1998 when I was traveling back in forth for work.
My intention was to drive it back to Minnesota and restore it someday.
The car drove nice on city streets, but at freeway speeds the engine would stumble after about 15 miles.
I never did figure that out and instead trailered the Marlin back to Minnesota.
I put it in storage, right away, indoor, where it has remained ever since.
It’s time to let this one go to someone that wants to take on the challenge of restoring a unique vehicle.
The car is a factory 327 V8 with a factory Holley 4bbl and column shift automatic.
    This was
AMC's performance car in 1965 and has the cool Marlin vibe.
The door tag paint code is 14A and 3A which is “Marlin Silver” and “Antigua Red”.
The “Q” on the trim code is for “Fabric Insert” for the Marlin.
So, it appears that the seats are original.
The car has power steering, power disc brakes and (aftermarket or dealer installed?) air conditioning. There were 10,327Marlins made in 65, with only 4,311 getting the 270 Hp 327 4bbl.
The car is about as complete as one can find for a restoration project.
There is some surface rust appearing on the body but no major rot.
I wouldn’t claim that it is totally rust free, but this is a pretty solid car to start with.
The Marlin emblem hood ornament, the trunk ornament along with the Marlin dash emblem are there.
The taillights ,headlight, stainless trim and bumpers are there.
    Look at the pictures close.
Basically, the unique Marlin stuff is there.
The dash shows 83,232 miles which is most likely original.
With a battery, the engine will crank but not start.  There doesn’t seem to any spark.
I'm guessing it needs a set of points after all the years of sitting.
The tires hold air for about a week.
    The car rolls easy.
I have an ignition key, but, I have not be enable to find a trunk key so I’m not sure what, if anything, is in the trunk.
The car is being sold as is.  It is not running.  There is no battery.
The buyer will have to make arrangements to take the car home.
It is stored about25 Miles west of Minneapolis.
The storage building has good access to back up a trailer and load up the car.
